Costly Waste

Back in Nigeria, I visit the supermarket and shopping malls quite often. I try to recycle the use of the cellophane bags that the salesgirl gives every once in a while- they help for disposing of garbage. The problem is that the bags don’t get used as often, so I have a huge pile scattered everywhere. It is convenient not to leave them at home when next I go shopping, because, they come free!
The shops in Nigeria should learn from South Africa. The customer ought to pay for these polythene bags so that the money generated can be used to employ cleaners who take care of our waste. The money can be added into other recycling projects to maintain a healthier, cleaner environment
